One fine morning while having our routine discussion, suddenly a vehicle from KKM (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia) stopped right in front of clinic😱I was stunned as no prior notice was given to me on their visit. To give a heads up, for every new private clinic, once received Borang B from KKM, the team will make a sudden surprise visit to your clinic to confirm the clinic is operating as per mentioned during the application process.
Few officers got down from the vehicle and begun their inspection starting from the clinic parking itself. They were busily measuring the ramp at the clinic parking lot and at the clinic entrance. An officer later entered the clinic introducing herself as the doctor assigned by CKAPS to conduct inspection at my clinic to ensure the facility complies to the floorplan layout and regulations set by them. My heart was beating fast by then but I have to remain calm.
Each room was measured and checked for the necessary equipment. Among the equipment required for a clinic setting👇
b) Resuscitation equipment (eg: ambubag, laryngoscope, intubation kits)
c) Oxygen tank
d) ECG machine
e) IV Adrenaline, IV Atropine, Normal saline, D50 solution
f) DDA (Dangerous Drug Act) cabinet
Next, the mandatory documents to be displayed are examined thoroughly. Those are👇
- Borang B
- Organization chart
- Duty roster
- Emergency contacts (eg: police station, fire station, referral hospital, ambulance, PIC, staff)
- Patient Grievance Mechanism
- Clinic fee schedule
- Clinic policy
- Medical degree of PIC
- Annual Practice Certificate (APC) of PIC
The officers will also enquire on the PEST CONTROL and CLINICAL WASTE CONTROL agreement with the clinic. Make sure to prepare these documents before hand. After almost an hour of questioning and cross checking, the officers gave their thumbs up👍. I breathe a sigh of relief as the final approval for Klinik Bloomcare OBTAINED😁
